LEONARD -- Zella Leonard, 102, a resident of Albuquerque since 1961, died Wednesday, September 3, 2003. She is survived by her daughters, Dr. Louise Leonard of Albuquerque and Margaret Sabo and husband, William of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Judith Gerald and husband, Lanny, Bonita Louise Dinham and husband, Dana, Michael Johnston of Virginia, and Michelle Johnston of San Francisco, CA; eight great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; niece, Karen Wilt of Hollidaysburg, PA; nephew, James Lee Endress; and son-in-law, Melvin Johnston of Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milo Leonard; daughter, Dolores Johnston; grandson, William Sabo; parents, Wesley and Ida Cartwright Endress and brother, Leroy Endress. Mrs. Leonard was born in Frankstown, PA in a log cabin that was a trading post for the Delaware Susqehannah Indians. She loved fishing and was still fishing at the age of 92. Mrs. Leonard enjoyed playing the piano and organ and as a young girl played in the church. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. Mrs. Leonard was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Services will be held Friday, September 5, 2003, 10:00 am, at St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9100 Menaul Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Dana Dinham, Andy Brooks, Lanny Gerald, Sr., and Lanny Gerald Jr. Friends may visit one hour prior to service at St. Luke's.
