MITCHELL, CATHERINE L BUSH (LOU) Gracefully left this earth on 2/18/15 to her heavenly home after a long and very courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Lou was born on 8/24/26 in Terre Haute, IN to Henry and Louveanie Minton Bush. She was preceded in death by both parents, brothers Hank Bush and William Payne, husbands Nicholas J Mitchell and Dr. John C Melton, DDS. Lou is survived by her sister Juanita Reilly, Cary, NC; children Carolyn Mitchell Bent (Jack) Rio Rancho, and Bob Mitchell (Judy) Rio Rancho; grandchildren Christina Bent (Jamie Zeigler) Gypsum, CO, Gregory Bent Webster, NY, Aaron Mitchell (Tammie), Richardson, TX, Jason Mitchell (Worth Ross), Dallas, TX; great-grandchildren, Jonah Zeigler, Aubrey and Gavin Bent, Mary Kate and Charlie Mitchell; niece Janice Owens (Keith) Cary, NC; and nephew Chuck Childs (Lois) Cary, NC; great-nieces and nephews, Christina, Caroline and Matthew Owen, Kevin and Lindsay Childs; and her very special friend Jim McCormick. Lou loved to write short stories and poetry, gardening, read, work crossword puzzles, walk every day, run in marathons, play bridge 4 or 5 times a week and make strawberry cakes. Lou was formally executive secretary for the Republican State Central Committee of NM. She was campaign office manager and director of organization for Sen. Peter V. Domenici during his first campaign for U.S. Senate. For the past several years was a member of the NM Republican State Central Committee and the Rio Rancho Federated Republican Women. Lou was a beautiful, loving and gracious lady with a huge heart. She was truly a remarkable mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who always gave of herself selflessly. To live, love and laugh is how she lived her life. Our family wishes to express our heart felt thanks and gratitude to Presbyterian Hospice especially Mahea and Vicky who are our angels and helped us through this journey.
