GAUER, FRANKLIN M. JR. Beloved husband for over 38 years, Frank passed away on January 2, 2015. With the soul of an artist who spent his career as an engineer, Frank worked all over the US and abroad before the move to New Mexico over 31 years ago. He spent many years as a general contractor and was still practicing as an engineer until early 2014. Born August 19, 1938 to Franklin Sr. and Pearl, he was raised in Milwaukee, WI and was educated at Marquette University. A gifted musician who played marimba and vibes, Frank also wrote eloquent and touching poetry, created beautiful wood furniture, took stunning artwork photographs and was an incredible chef. His artistry was expressed in everything he did and his spirit is celebrated through all of his work and in the heart and soul of his beloved wife Mary and all who knew him. His deep commitment to people and ideas, his integrity, his generosity of spirit and his wry sense of humor accompanied by his wonderful grin will always live in people's hearts. The true legacy of Frank Gauer is found in the lives of the people he's touched over so many years. He is survived by his beloved and adoring wife Mary; son Franklin III and wife Shannon, grandchildren Britta, Nic and Tony; son James; daughter Sheryl and husband Mike, grandchildren Brooke and Shaelyn; brother James and wife Betsy, daughter Shanti. He was also a "dad" to five Shetland Sheep Dogs for over 27 years whom he showered with love and who adored him in return.
