VATOSEOW, BARBARA CHRISTINE VRATTOS Barbara Christine Vrattos Vatoseow, 81, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 15, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, Narke Vatoseow, and her parents, Louis and Bessie Vrattos. Barbara was born in Canton, Ohio on September 20, 1933. In 1940, the family moved to Albuquerque due to her mother's health. Barbara attended Bandelier Elementary, Jefferson Junior High, St. Vincent's Girl's Academy, Albuquerque High, and graduated from Anglo-American High School in Athens, Greece. Barbara is survived by daughter, Stephanie Gianopoulos, and husband Chris; daughter, Angela Koury, and husband Joe; son, Steve Vatoseow, and wife Dawn and daughter, Christine Vatoseow. She was especially proud of her grandchildren, Peter Gianopoulos, Alex Gianopoulos, Vicki Gianopoulos Pizanis and husband Charlie, Joanne Koury Wilson and husband Kyle, Lauren Koury Moore and husband Mike, Paul Koury, Jennie Vatoseow, Allie Vatoseow, Jesse Vatoseow, Narke Vatoseow, Robby Ficklin and Nicholas Ficklin. She also had one great-grandson, Max Wilson. Barbara will be truly missed by all who knew her. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was friendly to all she met. Barbara was an avid reader and was a whiz at crossword puzzles. She was a devoted member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and a long-time member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society. The Trisagion Memorial Service will be on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at FRENCH - University. The Funeral, officiated by Father Conan Gill, will be held Monday, January 19, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 308 High St. SE. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 308 High Street SE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
