SCHNELL, MARTIN SAMUEL Martin passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2014 in Dillon, MT. He is preceded in death by his father William Martin Schnell in 1978, and his life-long companion Eve Malo in 2013. He is survived by his mother Betty Holmes of Rio Rancho, NM, and siblings Christina Summers (Mark) of Tempe, AZ, Judith Schnell (Lorenzo) of Rio Rancho, NM, James Schnell of Odessa, TX, Sarah Glover (Neil) of Gilbert, AZ, and Merry Green (Ben) of Charlotte, NC. Martin attended high school in Albuquerque, NM, and graduated from Trinidad State Junior College in Colorado as a Certified Gunsmith. Martin's professional career included working on the Cochiti Dam Project and with the National Forest Service in NM. He managed an elk ranch in Cubero, NM, as well. Martin met Eve in Taos, NM, where he owned and operated his own business. Martin and Eve made their home in Montana, first in Havre and later in Dillon, where Eve was an active member of the academic community. Martin was a man of conviction, who valued peace and nonviolence. He was a truly gifted artist and meticulous craftsman, who used his immense talent to make the world a more beautiful place. He was a steward of the earth, who strongly believed in living with a minimal impact on his environment. Regardless, Martin never had a minimal impact on those he met; he is missed by all who knew and loved him. The family extends a special thanks to Martin's dear friends Jeff, David, the Zitzer family, the Paddock family, and all those who cared for him. He will be cremated and his remains scattered in the places he loved most: New Mexico and Montana. Funeral arrangements by Brundage Funeral Service in Dillon, MT 406-683-2112
