BATTLE, DAVID G. Age 74, passed away November 4, 2014, in Albuquerque. He is survived by wife Lynn, of Albuquerque; son Christopher Battle (Melissa), De Pere, WI; daughter Jessica Battle Van Wychen (Kevin), Kaukauna, WI; and three grandsons, Kyle, Quinn and Calvin Battle. Mr. Battle, who earned a bachelor of architecture degree from the U. of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN, and a master's degree in architectural conservation from York University, UK, spent over 30 years of his professional career with the National Park Service. As Regional Preservation Architect for the NPS office in Santa Fe, 1971-1984, he supervised preservation projects throughout the Southwest. During this time he also designed the beautiful visitors center at Pecos National Historical Park. From 1984 to 1998, Mr. Battle served as Senior Historical Architect for the NPS Denver Service Center. At the time of his retirement he was involved with a major preservation project on the Washington Monument in our nation's capital. Mr. Battle was also an accomplished woodworker who designed and built furniture for his own home. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of choice.
