WUNKER, DAVID E. Age 61, passed away on July 2, 2014 at his home in Santa Fe, NM. Dave was born on February 5, 1953 in Cincinnati, Ohio and was predeceased by his parents, Remmert and Helen (Vogel) Wunker; his sister, Lois Wunker Class; and brother, Daniel R. Wunker. David is survived by his sister E. Susanna Wunker Keller, her husband James A. Keller of Aurora, Colorado; and his sister-in-law, Nancy J. Wunker of Barstow, CA. He also leaves behind two nieces; five nephews; 20 additional grandnieces and grandnephews; and innumerable friends and acquaintances. David's last job was with the Air Quality Bureau of the State of New Mexico's Environmental Department. Dave's passions included a love of nature and a devotion to continuous study. Over his lifetime he climbed all of the 69 "fourteeners" in the contiguous USA; Mt. McKinley in Alaska; Aconcagua (22,800 ft) in Argentina, and three of the mountains in Mexico over 17,000 ft. In addition to amassing certifications in many fields, he earned a B.A. in Geography & History from UNM; a M.S. in Geography from Rutgers University; a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from UNM; and a Master of Divinity from Earlham School of Religion in Indiana. Ever on a spiritual odyssey Dave explored many different religions, but in his last few weeks experienced a return to his christian heritage. Friends and family are welcome to attend a memorial service for David at 3:00 pm on August 9th at the Santa Fe Friends Meeting, 630 Canyon Road in Santa Fe. A graveside memorial service is planned at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mason, Ohio at 2:00pm on October 15, 2014.
