BARELA, SIMON I. was called home on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. Simon was preceded in death by his dad Demetrio Barela; grandparents Simon and Nettie Barela, Ignacio and Mela Ramirez; and nephew Joe Ben Barela. Simon is survived by his mom, Esther R. Barela; brother, Demetrio Barela; sisters, Mela and husband, John Livramento, Gerrie and husband, Adrian Maes, Becky and husband, Victor Carrillo and Sandy B. Garcia; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Simon was a caregiver for grandpa Simon for many years. Simon attended East San Jose Elementary, Lincoln Jr. High and graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1973. Simon will be remembered as a very friendly and loving person and will be missed by all who knew him. Go in peace. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 8:15 a.m. at St. Joseph's on the Rio Grande Church with a Mass to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Monsignor Lambert Luna will be presiding over the services.
