She graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1964. She married Joe Rhodes, September 8, 1962. After graduating Kay taught business subjects at Valley High School in Albuquerque, NM, until 1970. The family lived in Albuquerque, NM; Alderwood Manor, WA; Yarrow Point, WA; Town and Country, MO; Columbine Valley, CO; Barrington, IL and back to Columbine Valley in 1996, where they retired. Kay was a great cook, she ran the household, was a wonderful wife, a loyal friend and a tremendous support to her husband. She was a great mother who was very involved with all her children's school and extra curricular activities. Kay is survived by her husband and her two children and four grandchildren: her son Joe Rhodes and his wife Natalie of Hoboken, NJ, and their children Josh and Luke, and her daughter Julie Leftridge and her husband Steve of Webster Groves, MO, and their children Henry and Logan. She is also survived by her brother Steve Henderson and his wife Carol Jane of Roswell, NM, her sisters-in-law Barbara Rhodes Siegal and her husband Bernie of Menlo Park, CA and Penny Rhodes Pulliam and her husband Byron of Grand Junction, CO. She has three surviving nephews and one who preceded her in death, and five surviving nieces and their families. Kay faced the inevitability of this unforgiving disease with the same dignity and grace she displayed throughout the rest of her life. She never lost her beautiful smile, her calm demeanor or her heartfelt love for her family and friends. She will be remembered as a kind caring person, and she will be sorely missed by her children, her family, her loving husband and many others. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Sat. March 15, at the Littleton United Methodist Church, 5894 S. Datura Street, Littleton, CO 80120, 303-794-6379. A reception will immediately follow at the church. In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be made to the Colorado Alzheimer's Association, 455 Sherman Street, Suite 500 or to the charity of one's choice.
