DURAN, SUSAN GAYLE 1954 - 2014 Susan Gayle Duran, age 60, a resident of Belen, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family and her beloved dogs, on Sunday, February 23rd. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and with her many horses. She was a mother, sister, and friend to many. Sue was always one for practical jokes. She took great enjoyment in making people laugh and/or in giving them a good scare. Sue loved the mountains, hiking and spending time with those whom she loved and cared. Sue was also a very hard worker; there was not a job that she would refuse to tackle. All of these attributes will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Unfortunately, for the past year, she had been fighting a brave battle with cancer which she ultimately lost. However, no matter her pain or discomfort, she still got up nearly every day and tended to her daily activities and cared for her beloved dogs. The only solace that can be taken now is that she is free of pain and it is hoped that she will now be able to once again go for those long hikes in the mountains, and bask in the sunlight. Sue's family would like to give a special thank you to Beth Sambrano and the Ambercare Hospice Team for their wonderful care and compassion for Sue in her last weeks. A private memorial service will be held at a later date for Sue's family and loved ones. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Albuquerque Humane Society, or any other animal or horse rescue, in Sue's name. Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, 418 W. Reinken Ave., (505)864-4448, where an online guest register is available at www.noblinfuneralservice.com
