SHISHMAN, MARSHA ANNE Marsha, age 71, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was born to Dr. Fred M. Sauerman and Mrs. Ethel M. Sauerman on March 30, 1942, in Moline, Illinois. Marsha is survived by her loving husband of more than 47 years, Tom Shishman of Albuquerque; her mother Ethel M. Sauerman-Sadilek of Albuquerque; her brother Dr. Richard Sauerman and wife Barbara of Albuquerque. Her children include son Scott Shishman and wife Debbie of Bloomington, Indiana; her son Michael Shishman and wife Courtney of LaGrange, Illinois; and her son Greg Shishman of Seattle, Washington. Her six grandchildren include granddaughter Megan, grandson Matt, and granddaughter Maria of Bloomington, Indiana; grandson Thomas, grandson Charles, and granddaughter Madelyn of LaGrange, Illinois. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends. Marsha left Moline, Illinois in 1960 and matriculated to the University of New Mexico where she graduated in 1964. While at UNM, she was active in swimming, water ballet, and Greek life. Marsha eventually became president and alumna advisor of Delta Delta Delta Sorority where she developed many lifelong friends. Marsha began her successful and rewarding career in 1964 as a teacher for Albuquerque Public Schools. She worked at APS for over 17 years as a Teacher of the Gifted in the classroom and ultimately as Head Teacher in Special Education in middle school. She earned a Master of Arts, Elementary Education degree from UNM in 1995. Marsha was also actively involved in New Mexico Republican politics, working in various roles for the campaigns of Pete Domenici, Joe Skeen, Harry Kinney, Heather Wilson and others. Marsha was an active parishioner of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, a Girl Scout Leader, a member of Junior League, and an enthusiastic member of the "Sassy Sisters", her lifelong alumna friends from Moline High School. Marsha enjoyed her faith, tennis, golf, swimming, bridge, reading, politics, and many other social activities. However, she derived her greatest pleasure from being a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, and friend. Marsha will be remembered as a loving and caring person who lived life with grace. As a teacher, she taught us through example how to address life's challenges effectively in a loving, compassionate, and respectful manner. We will miss you Marsha. We are all better off having known and loved you. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, August 2, 2013, at 10:00 am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 12500 Carmel Ave NE, followed by a reception in the Community Hall.
