SANCHEZ, MATTHEW On July 3rd, Matthew Michael Sanchez, 14 years old, went home to be with our Heavenly Father following a tragic accident. Matthew was preceded in death by his great-grandmother Juanita Sanchez. Matthew is survived by his parents Darren and Dolores; grandparents, Maurilio and Viola Sanchez, Stanley and Mary Mirabal; his godmother, Pauline Baca and god-father/Uncle Joseph Sanchez; his great-grandparents, Jesus and Linda Sanchez; aunts, Desiree Marquez and Denise Trujillo; uncles, Isaac Marquez and Mike Trujillo; his special friend D'Andra Armijo; his best friend Mitchell Torres; his brothers from many years of YAFL's Del Norte Knights Football Teams and YAFL's Eldorado Eagles Spring Football Team, his brothers from the numerous basketball teams that he was a part of and his brothers and sisters from the track teams that he ran with. Matthew also played Little League for several years. He is survived by his great-aunts and uncles and numerous cousins. He also touched and inspired the lives of many of his schoolmates, coaches and teachers and this was evident by the amount of visitors following the accident. He was also a member of St. Bernadette's Youth Group and excited to be part of Sandia High School's Freshman Football team, where he was going to begin his freshman year as a Matador. The Pallbearers will be Mitchell Torres, Avery See, Devante Garcia, Julian Barros, Tomas Martinez and Aidan Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will be his many brothers from the many teams that allowed them to become a family. Each and every one of them shared a bond with Matthew. Matthew loved dogs, sports and was a leader on the field and off the field and extremely talented with a bright future ahead of him. He was competitive, compassionate, dedicated, fun, loving, a great student, an amazing friend and a true jokester. He will be greatly missed by all that were blessed to have known him during his lifetime, but as someone who loved him very much said "this isn't goodbye, it's just see ya later." We all will continue on in joyful hope of that glorious day. We wish to thank all the staff at University Hospital NICU for their wonderful care and compassion for Matthew and the family, especially Victoria Ross. The family also wishes to thank all those who abundantly blessed us through this difficult time to all that visited, prayed, brought a dish, sent a card, text or sat with us at the hospital. We are grateful for your support.
