DEFILLIPPO, PATRICK (PATTY) born in Brooklyn, New York, on August, 11th, 1942 passed away peacefully on January, 12th, 2013 with his family surrounding him after a long, valiant fight to survive pancreatic cancer. He was welcomed into eternal life by his parents, Samuel and Evelyn DeFillippo and brother James DeFillippo, all preceded in death. Throughout his life he worked as a young man on the high rises of Manhattan, New York. Upon relocating to New Mexico he owned a Butcher shop, and a Florist, both located in Rio Rancho. Patty was a loving brother, and is survived by his siblings, Samuel DeFillippo Jr., Nancy Shanks, Linda Davide, and Rose Ferdinand. Brother and sister in-laws include, Jackie DeFillippo, Arthur Shanks, Richard Ferdinand, Michael Falsone, and Camille DeFillippo. He shared a very close relationship with each of them and he will missed more than words can describe. The great loves of his life included ex-wives JoAnne, Mary, and Stephanie. His children included, Kim, Barbara, Patty Ann, Kristin, Patty, Kim, and grandchildren. Even though distance separated them they were always loved greatly and he was so proud of the people they became. He was a doting uncle to many nieces and nephews and his dearest of friends were the same as family to him. He was a man who enjoyed the simple joys of life, being with his large family he cherished, and two dogs. He loved a party and no party was complete without him. His famous black hat was always passed around as we all tried to emulate the swagger he had when he danced. His presence would light up a room. Every celebration our family has going forward will never be the same without him. On occasion, he loved to try his luck at the casino hoping to "win big" and take care of his family, near and far. His family was his heart and soul, always speaking of the good times, the regrets, and hopes for the future with those he held dear. It was the most important thing to him. He lived for today, enjoying each moment, and appreciating all the blessings he had. The family would like to extend a sincere "Thank You" to all who came to be with Patty during his battle. Your kindness and love was apparent to all. It was always Patty's way to ask all about the "goings on" of the visitor's life, to make someone laugh, and to make sure everyone else was comfortable, even in the depths of his fight. He was a very selfless, and strong man. His spirit was lifted with every visit he had. You all have our heartfelt gratitude. Patty DeFillippo was a man who taught his family and friends to love life, and was loved by so many. He lived with hope and courage until the moment he left us. As a family we thank him for all the good times, and showing us that life is to be enjoyed. He will be forever missed and never forgotten. No services are scheduled at this time. Patty was a loyal animal lover. In Lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to your local ASPCA or Humane Society.
