WADE, RICHARD MERRILL At the age of 71, our beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend died peacefully at home Nov. 19, 2012, following a 5-year struggle with cancer. He was born in Evansville, IN, on Nov. 28, 1940 to Clyde E. and Helen (Kell) Wade, who preceded him in death along with his son Richard Wade; grandson Christopher Wade; brother Morris Wade; step-daughter Lorri Dreier; and in-laws Dr. Paul and Sylvia Garrett. He is survived by his first love and wife, Gaylia Garrett Dreier Wade; sisters and brothers-in-law Karen and Glenn Ruthenbeck, Winkie and Roy Hazelwood, sister-in-law Paulyn West; daughter Staci Wade, step-son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Amy Dreier, and "adopted" son Steve Watkins; grandchildren Kristin (Darrell) Potter, Max and Sinclair Watkins, Christian and Joshua Dreier; great-grandson Henry (Hank) Potter; numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and special buddy, Rags. Rich was a paratrooper (82nd Airborne), master craftsman and builder of others' dreams, such as furniture, homes, high-rises, remodels, offices--even in Saudi Arabia. He traveled the world, making friends everywhere he went. He was a sports enthusiast and history buff, as well as a gourmet cook, expert handyman, and a humorist known for his wisdom, compassion, and tender care given to family, friends, and strangers. He gave his best in everything, and was loyal, optimistically cheerful, gentle, and strong--never complaining, even to the end. Special gratitude to Dr. Mitchell Binder, Wendy Burman, and all the staff at Kaseman Oncology and Presbyterian Hospice. Rich loved all of his family and friends, and felt our love and prayers for him over the years. He recommitted his life to the Lord Jesus Christ toward the end. Grandson Joshua said, "Grandaddy, I'm so happy I get to see you in heaven!" and we know he waits there for us to join him. A service will be held at 10:00am, January 21st at Sagebrush Community Church, 6440 Coors at NW, Pastor Chris Dreier officiating. John 3:16.
