LYDIC, GLADYS ELIZABETH BOHALL was born on July 16, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa to Mary and James Bohall. After graduating from East High School in Des Moines, she was employed by the Iowa Employment Security Commission. In 1954 she married her life-long love, William "Bill" Francis Lydic, her husband for 51 years. In 1964 Gladys and Bill moved with her two children to Albuquerque, New Mexico which became their home for the next 43 years. Gladys was employed by Sandia Corporation, and Bill worked for G.E. After retiring, Gladys and Bill pursued many interests such as square dancing, traveling in their RV with winter stays in Yuma, AZ with Gladys' beloved sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Carl Landers. Gladys was an expert seamstress and enjoyed all kinds of crafts and handwork such as knitting, crocheting, and macram. She loved to cook and watch cooking shows. Gladys also spent hours working on her family tree and traveling with Bill to numerous cemeteries to research her genealogy. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, who died in 2005. In 2007 Gladys left Albuquerque, NM to move closer to her son and his wife in Flower Mound, Texas. Gladys Lydic died on October 20, 2012. She is survived by her sister, Betty Bohall Landers of Yuma, AZ; her son and his wife, Larry and Suzanne Statler, of Flower Mound, Texas; her daughter, Deborah Eileen Statler, of Warsaw, Indiana; five grandchildren, Bathsheba Lin Miller, Rebecca Rae Statler, Robert Daniel Townsend, Andrea Jatoughn Statler, and Jonathan Lawrence Statler; and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico where she will be interred with her husband, a WWII veteran. Friends from Albuquerque are invited to join the family at the National Cemetery at 2:15pm, November 19, 2012 to honor Gladys Lydic.
