SANDOVAL -- MARIANO M. Age 85, of Edgewood, New Mexico, peacefully passed away at his home on Saturday, August 19, 2012. Mariano was born February 21, 1927 in San Pedro, NM to Clarence and Antonia (Martinez) Sandoval. Mariano was a Marine Veteran. He married Anita Chavez on October 9, 1948. They had three daughters, Carla, Isabel and Barbara. Mariano was a member of St. Elizabeth Anne Seton Catholic Church in Edgewood. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anita who passed away, June 24, 1994; brothers, Isidro Sandoval and Carlos Sandoval; sister, Stella Chavez; great-granddaughter, Modesty Alexandro Garza; and son-in-law, Ted G. Cavalier. He is survived by his three daughters, Carla Cavalier and her husband Leo Lopez of Edgewood, Isabel Salazar and her husband Gilbert of Carnuel and Barbara Garza and her husband Tony of Edgewood; brother, Gilbert Sandoval of Tijeras; six grandchildren, Deborah and Gabriel Flores, Monica and Saul Nunez, Anthony M. Garza, Felicia and Jeff Garcia, Mateo Garza and Rosie Garza; eight great-grandchildren, Jonathan Flores, Daniel Flores, Nikole DeLuna, Olivia Nunez, Raeanne Nunez, Adyan G. Garza, Josiah Garcia and Adelina Garcia; and her beloved pet, Peewee. There will be a Rosary recited on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Anne Seton Catholic Church in Edgewood, NM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., also at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Robert Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow the Mass at San Pedro Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gene Sandoval, Jonathan Flores, Daniel Flores, Gabriel Flores, Saul Nunez, Anthony Garza, Mateo Garza, Jeff Garcia and Orlando Gutierrez, Frank Gutierrez, Pedro Gutierrez Jr. Evaristo Gutierrez, Pete Montano, Alberto Pohl. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lenny Chavez, Luis Chavez, Carlos Sandoval, Clarence Sandoval, Felipe Garcia, Gilbert Sandoval Jr., and Elias Gutierrez.
