ANDERSON -- ARTHUR MARTIN longtime resident of Tularosa, NM and beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many, passed away on July 19, 2012. He would have turned 90 on August 3. He was born in Ross, Minnesota and later grew up in Grand Forks, North Dakota where he attended school and joined the Army in 1941. He served four years in the military and saw action during World War II in Normandy, Northern France and Central Europe where he served as a communications lineman. He was awarded the bronze star and received an honorable discharge in September of 1945. In 1945 he married Patricia Dotson and they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma for many years before moving to Albuquerque. His last employment was with Sears Roebuck where he designed kitchens and received several commendations for his outstanding sales in the Southwest region. Andy was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge and a long-time member of the Elks Lodges in Albuquerque and Alamogordo where he achieved the level of Exalted Ruler. His father and mother, Anton and Anna Anderson as well as his wife of 62 years, Patricia, preceded Andy in death. He is survived by his brother, Don Anderson (Jinny); his sister, Ruby Rylance; children: David and wife Jane of Santa Fe, NM, Kristi Crume of State College, PA, and Julie of Tularosa; grandchildren include Kim (Jeff) Gross, Jason (Catherine) Crume, and Kelli (Ryan) Luther; and great-grandchildren: Jordan, Riley and Hailey Gross, Logan, Hannah and Landon Luther, and Jackson Crume, all of Seattle, WA. Andy lived a long and varied life and was especially proud of his family. He was skilled in many areas of craftsmanship, but he loved woodworking and was known for making gifts for family members and taking on projects for various friends and acquaintances in his woodworking shop. A Memorial Service will be held on July 31 at 3:00 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe where his remains and those of his wife will rest together.
