WENGERT -- CAROLINA P. Age 102, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, April 9. Born in Cebolla, New Mexico in 1909, "Cora" raised her family in Wagon Mound with her husband Jose V. Wengert who preceded her in death in 1973. "Grandma" moved to Tucumcari where she lived for 13 years with her daughter Dr. Gloria Wengert, helping raise her children. They moved to Albuquerque where grandma lived for 21 years until her passing. Carolina is survived by son Art and wife, Dorothy Wengert; daughter Brenilda and husband Moises Sandoval; daughter Bessie Namath; son Maurice and wife, Carol Wengert; daughter Dr. Gloria Wengert; over 52 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a number of great-great grandchildren; nephews and nieces and friends, many from Westwind House in Albuquerque where she resided for the last three years. Carolina loved her family. She took great joy sharing stories about her life on the ranch with "Mr. Wengert." She made friends with everyone she met and charmed everyone with her spunk and quick wit. She was a treasure trove of Spanish dichos and culture. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 12 at 6:00 P.M. at St. Jude Thaddeus Church. Funeral services will be held in Wagon Mound, Saturday, April 14 at 11:00 A.M. at Santa Clara Parrish. Pallbearers will be Arthur Joe Wengert, Loretta Sanchez, Lee Arguello, Wesley Wengert, Francisco DeGraffenreid and Camden Watts.
