HAWKES -- JAMES H. Age 75, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012. He was born in Albuquerque, NM on September 19, 1936, to Priscilla and James H. Hawkes, Sr., and was raised in Belen, NM. Among his many accomplishments, he was the Golden Gloves Boxing Regional Champion. He had a 10th Degree Black Belt in Shorin Ryu and was co-director of the United States Karate Alliance and the owner of Jim Hawkes Karate School in Albuquerque, which was the first of its kind. He served as an inspiration to young children and adults alike without regard to their background, race, color or creed. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a Locomotive Fireman/Engineer and Lineman. James retired as a Deputy with the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department. He was preceded in death by his parents. James is survived by his wife, Suzanne E. Hawkes; children, John D. Becker and Amanda S. Becker; step-mother, Frances Leah Hawkes "Kika"; siblings, Dykes Leroy Hawkes, Clara Priscilla Hawkes, Dallas Whitney Hawkes, Marlene Genevieve Hawkes-Pisut, Daniel Howard Hawkes, Michael Anthony Hawkes and Elizabeth Ann Hawkes; special nephews, Christopher James Hawkes and Dallas Whitney Hawkes, Jr., whom he took under his wing; and many numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He will be greatly missed by all. Memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2012, 1:00 pm, at Daniels Family Funeral Services - Carlisle Chapel.
