TAYLOR -- WARREN E. Age 91, long time Albuquerque resident, passed away due to pneumonia on February 24th. Warren was born on November 15, 1920 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He grew up in South Bend, Indiana. He was an officer in the Army Air Corps during World War II and served in North Africa. Following his honorary discharge, he completed his Bachelors degree at Kalamazoo College, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he met his wife, Ann. Ann and Warren were married in 1947. Warren received his Ph.D. in physics from the Ohio State University in 1952 and was immediately hired by Sandia Laboratories where he worked as a nuclear physicist and ultra high vacuum technologist until his retirement. Throughout his life, Warren was continuously committed to the youth of Albuquerque. He was active in the Boy Scouts for over 30 years in many capacities, including Scout Master, and was honored with the Silver Beaver award for his distinguished service. He was active in the youth programs of his church, where he led children's worship services and served as Sunday School Superintendent. Warren always enjoyed his interaction with the student scientists he met while judging the finals of the state of New Mexico Science Fair. Warren also assumed positions of leadership as an elder in his church, and as an officer in the New Mexico Chapter of the American Vacuum Society. Warren always had a great love of the outdoors, and led many a camping trip throughout the Rocky Mountain west. He had a great love of all things New Mexican and the food and culture of Mexico and Central America. Warren is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ellen Ann; three children, Shirley of Littleton, Colorado, Wayne of Los Alamos, New Mexico, and Kurt, of Burney, California; three grandchildren, Steven, Ayla, and Dustin; and two nephews, David and Donald. Warren was predeceased in death by his only brother, Robert, and parents Clarence and Marjorie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the youth ministry at the Sombra Del Monte Christian Church. A memorial service celebrating Warren's life will be held at the Sombra Del Monte Christian Church on Vermont Street at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 1st.
