MEJIA -- LUCY "CHANA" R. Age 91, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, was embraced by the Lord and taken to her heavenly home, Sunday, February 26, 2012. She was a life long resident of Ponderosa, NM. Chana enjoyed arts and crafts, western movies, dancing and being involved with the Senior Community in Canyon. She made the best chile rellenos and blue corn enchiladas; and you'd never catch her eating mustard of any kind. Chana was the last surviving child of the Romero family; and will forever be fondly remembered by her beautiful smile. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julian and Christinita Romero; her first husband Filiberto Martinez; two grandsons, Timothy Martinez and Julian Lucero. Chana is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Joe Mejia of Ponderosa, NM; her wonderful children, Phil Martinez and wife Nancy, Jack Martinez and wife Irene, Louie Martinez and wife Maureen, Ivan Martinez and wife Boyana, Peggy Crespin and husband Mike; 22 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; other numerous relatives and friends. Chana will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those whose hearts she touched. Final viewing will be Wednesday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services - Alameda Mortuary. Service of Christian Burial will be today at 9:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 9502 Fourth St. NW, Albuquerque. Interment to follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park. Casket Bearers will be Eddie Martinez, Todd Martinez, Isaac Martinez, Mike Crespin, Gabriel Garcia and Alfred Jaramillo. Honorary Bearers will be Scott Wade and James Runyon.
