SANCHEZ -- MARIA NINFA 1916-2012 On January 21, 2012, Maria Ninfa Sanchez affectionately known as "Ninfa," age 95, went home to be with The Lord and her husband Fidel who preceded her in death in 1998. They were married for 62 years. Ninfa was a life-long resident of Belen and member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. She belonged to the Catholic daughters of America, Sacred Heart League, Blessed Sacrament Society, and was a state of New Mexico retiree employed as a Dietician at the former Los Lunas Hospital and Training School. Ninfa was loved by many throughout her life and people were blessed by her presence. She was an excellent homemaker known for her tasty cooking and baking. Ninfa is survived by her four children, Richard Sanchez, Ruth Johnston and her husband, Gary, Mary Sanchez and fiance, Waldo Lucero, and Patrick Sanchez; brother, Herman Sanchez; three grandchildren, Rick Johnston, Alan Johnston, and Debbie Oberer and husband, Mark; seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, January 24, at 5:30 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. A final visitation will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, on Wednesday, January 25, at 10:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Rick Johnston, Debbie Oberer, Alan Johnston, Mark Oberer, Joshua Pierce, and Andrew Sanchez.
