SMITH -- KAY KILLOUGH 1942-2011 Barbra Kay Killough Smith "Kay", 69, a long time resident of Tome NM, born in Abilene, TX, went peacefully to be with her departed loved ones and our Lord on Thursday, November 24. She had a full life of people who loved her dearly. She was a retired line assigner for Qwest after serving them for 35 years. She spent the last 14 years devoted to her daughter, Kristin Chavez and son-in-law Jarrod and her four beautiful grandchildren. She attended many events with the grandchildren cheering them on like she was their biggest fan! She truly enjoyed spending countless hours with her friends and family. The holidays were especially special to her. She would do anything that was asked of her to help others putting them first. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cora Bell and Ferd Tom Killough; five brothers; three sisters; and stepson Jeffery Martin Smith. She is survived by her ex-husband, John A. Smith, who, to this day, was a best friend; daughter Kristin Chavez and husband Jarrod; four grandchildren, Cerisa, Brendon, Devin, and Aidan Chavez; two sisters, Mary Ola Harless and husband James Weldon, and Freda Joe Bishop; one brother Fred Poe Killough; her lifelong best friend "sister", Ann Glover; nephew, Ron Killough and wife Sharon; four step children, Gene A. Smith, James Lee Smith and wife Valarie Jeremy T. Smith, Sandy Smith, and Rita Smith; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Erik, David, Jessie Gorlinsky, and Katie Kephart; and six great-grandchildren. There are many people she was extremely close to that will also miss her dearly. She was born and raised in Abilene, TX where she still considered home. To her grandchildren and most of the children she met she was known as "Mimi". There are no words to describe how important, and irreplaceable this amazing woman was to so many people. She will be dearly missed. There is no one who will ever take her place. "Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I die before I wake, I pray the Lord, my soul to take." We will love you, love you, love you...always. A time to celebrate Kay's life will be held at the Noblin Funeral Service Belen Chapel, 418 W. Reinken Ave., at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2nd. Family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at Noblin Funeral Service, (505)864-4448, where an online guest register is available at: www.noblinfuneralservice.com
