ARAGON -- JOE W. 1923 - 2011 Joe W. Aragon, age 87, a life-long resident of Peralta, NM passed away on Aug. 20, with his loving family by his side. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. Joe served proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII as a sergeant in the 8th Cavalry. His passion in life was growing the best alfalfa in the valley. He loved to work his land, harvest his crop and most of all to socialize with people from all walks of life who dropped by to purchase hay from him. He was an avid sports fan and keen observer of national politics and events; but above all, he was fully committed to his faith in God and to his family and friends. Words cannot express how deeply Joe will be missed. Joe was born on October 9th, 1923. He was preceded in death by his parents, Timoteo and Sinforosa (Chavez) Aragon; his siblings Mary Nephew and husband, Chester, Lydia Tapia and husband, Bennie, and Sinforosa Apodaca and husband, Johnny; Sister Mary Aquinas, Timoteo Aragon and wife, Katalina; and his eldest son, Joseph Aragon Jr. Joe is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lugarda "Luge" (Gurule); sons, Rudy and his wife Tina and Chuck and his wife Kathy. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren, Alexa, Danielle, Christina, Angelica, Santos (Christen) and Isaac. The apples of his eye were his great granddaughters Jadyn and Kamryn. All services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 23 beginning with a Visitation at 9:30 a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m. and Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Pallbearers are Eloy Tapia, Charles Apodaca, Ray Aragon, Salomon Molina, Greg Gurule and Pete Torres Jr. The family request that donations be made to Saint Vincent de Paul Fund, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, 3674 State Highway 47, Peralta, NM 87042 or the charity of your choice.
