LAMB -- MARGARET K. Born June 1, 1915 to Louis and Bethel Kuchs in Ouray, Colorado, left this world to join her Savior and her husband, Merl, on August 1, 2011. She was predeceased by her husband; her parents; three brothers; one sister; a son-in-law; a grandson. She is survived by four daughters, Christalee and Ray Auge, Mary Margaret and Dale Burnworth, Bethel Jones, Meryl and Terry Thompson, two sons, Louis and Shirley Lamb, and Lester and Stephanie Lamb. She also has 14 grandchildren and their spouses; 22 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret graduated from Ouray High School and attended Business College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she met Merl. Married in 1936, Merl and Margaret lived in Colorado Springs and moved to the Camp Bird Mine outside of Ouray. Dad mined for three years until World War II, when he relocated to Los Lunas in 1943, to run the first shift at the new fluorspar mill. This was a government sponsored entity for the war effort. After the mill closed, they went to work at the Los Lunas Hospital and Training School. Mom was the cook for the complex and trained some of the patients to cook so they could find jobs when they left the facility. She was a cook at the new Los Lunas School cafeteria when it first opened. She also cooked for a season at the Cattlemen's Livestock Auction. She and Dad successfully raised six children in Los Lunas. Mom and Dad worked at the Valencia County Fair and had the First Aid station there on the grounds for years. She taught first aid for many years for the Red Cross, helped with the public library, and helped Dad in the New Mexico Mounted Patrol, after he retired from GE. Mom was the radio operator for the NM Mounted Patrol and the State Police at the NM State Fair for many years. She was very active in St Philip's Episcopal Church in Belen for many years and worked very hard to help St Matthew's Episcopal Church become established. She served on the altar guild for a long time. Her pancakes were famous at the Shrove Tuesday suppers. A Memorial Service for Margaret, will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 1000 Main Street, Los Lunas, NM. She will then be placed in the columbarium, with Merl, at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 113 La Luna Place, Belen, New Mexico. There will be a reception at St. Philip's following the service.
