PATTON -- CHARLES DUANE 89, Born: June 20, 1922 in Lone Tree, Iowa; Died: July 15, 2011 following a brief illness in Georgetown, TX. He served in the army and received three bronze stars. He met and married Erma Applegren in 1948 and they enjoyed 63 years of marriage as they traveled from Lone Pine to Colorado for two years and then to Arizona for nine years as he finished his masters degree. He obtained his doctoral degree at the University of Illinois in Champaign Illinois and taught vocational education for nine years at Central High School while he was working on his Doctorate. He worked as a professor of Safety at Central Washington University in Ellensburg Washington for 15 years. He and Erma retired in 1987 in Albuquerque. He and Erma enjoyed the last nine years in Sun City in Georgetown Texas. He is survived by his wife Erma Applegren and their children: David, Kathy, Eva, and Brian; nine grand-children; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grand daughter Christa D'Aurelio. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to San Gabriel Presbyterian Church Landscape fund of the Memorial Garden; 5404 Williams Drive; Georgetown, TX 78633.
