NELSON -- Gordon Arthur Nelson, 88, passed away at the La Vida Llena Health Care Center on Saturday, May 21, 2011. Formerly of Pinehurst, NC, he had been living in Albuquerque for the past five years. Gordon was born in Diamond Bluff, WI on February 21, 1923 the son of Arthur and Mabel Nelson. Gordon was a veteran of WWII serving as a Master Sergeant in the US Army Signal Corps. After the war, he rejoined AT&T Long-lines where he completed a distinguished 40 year career. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara; sister, Dorothy; and his grandson, John Gordon Sullivan. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Sullivan and husband, Jack of Albuquerque; son, James Nelson and wife, Cindy of Richmond, KY and son, Robert Nelson of Cedar Point, NC; granddaughters, AJ Nelson and Jennifer Williams; grandsons, Rick Nelson and Chris Sullivan; and great-granddaughter, Ella Williams. Gordon was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be truly missed by his family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at La Vida Llena, Carter Hall, 10501 Lagrima de Oro NE. Interment will take place at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
