ORTEGA -- Gilbert Ortega, age 72, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away March 11, 2011. Gilbert was a graduate of Valley High School in 1957 and was an avid enthusiast in sports, hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Marquez-Ortega; daughter Geraldine Ortega and grandson Jarrod Vallejos. He is survived by three sons, Larry Ortega, Jason Ortega and his wife Kathy, and Jeremy Ortega; one brother Miguel Mitch Ortega; one sister, Mary Ramirez and her husband Tony; six grandchildren, Issac and wife Melinda, Jolene, Anthony, Colleen, Alexis and Dominique; six great grandchildren, Angelica, Jacob, Issac Jr., Harley, Raquel and Xavier; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The Rosary will be recited Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 7:00 pm at the Salazar and Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW. A prayer service will be held Wednesday, March 16, at 10:00 am at the Salazar and Sons Mortuary. A graveside burial service will take place Thursday, March 17 at 11:00 am in the Mt.
