MAES -- Jesusita "Jessie" Maes, age 88, of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord, with her loving family at her side, Saturday, March 12, 2011. Jessie was a loving wife to Ambrosio Maes, her husband of 62 years. He preceded her in death in 2006. She was born and raised in Willard, NM. During WWII, she became "Rosie the Riveter" in Bremerton, WA. After the war, she returned to Willard, where she met and married Ambrosio in 1946. They then moved to Albuquerque, where they spent the rest of their lives. Jessie is survived by two loving sisters, Maria Maes and Rose McTeague and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews who adored her greatly. Pallbearers will be George Gomez, Fernando Flores, Antonio Flores, Robert Romero, Enriquez Maes, and Bobby Borrego. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason Edwards, Derek Romero, Erik Gomez, and Herman Chavez. A Rosary will be recited Monday, March 14, 2011 at 7:00 p.m., at French-Lomas Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by her nephew, Father Anthony Maes, and Father Michaelangelo Cimino, Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 10:00 AM, at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Lomas at Tennessee NE, with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. A reception will also follow at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal Rd. SW. A special thanks to Eufelia Torres and Mary Corona who provided such special care for Jessie.
