ARMENDARIZ -- Todd Armendariz, born August 23, 1967, in Albuquerque, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 12, 2011. A veteran police officer, he worked his way through the department, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. Todd was known for his dedication to work and family as well as for his tremendous sense of humor, from which no one was safe. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, boating, riding ATV's, and spending time with family. In his short life, he impacted all those that came in contact with him with his courage, positive attitude and love. He will be sorely missed. Surviving family includes his loving wife Kristen; children Alix and Taylor; mother Jan Smith, Wayne and Shelby Webster and Karen Carroll, all of Albuquerque. Full law enforcement honors will be accorded Todd. Visitation will be held Monday, March 14, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and funeral services will held Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 10:30 a.m., both at Hoffmantown Church, 8888 Harper Dr. NE. BACA -- MaryJane. Our mother, MaryJane Baca (Gonzales), 77, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2011, after a prolonged struggle with illness, with her entire family by her side. We feel an incredible sense of peace and love, and we are overwhelmed with pride at having been raised by such an exemplary human being who generated such a positive and vibrant life force. Thank you for all that you gave us mother, and God keep you safe now that you rest peacefully by his side. ELLIOTT -- George H. Elliott, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2011. George was born in Indianapolis IN. on June 28, 1923. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Pat "Patty to George" Elliott; daughters, Georgia Smith of Toledo, OH, Stephanie Williams and husband Bruce of Albuquerque and grandchildren; brother, Leo Elliott and wife, Lydia of Canton, OH. George was a World War II Veteran, entering the U.S. Army at the age of 18, stationed in England where he served with the 333rd Station Compliment for 29 months in European Theater of Operations. As an athletic instructor, he organized and instructed competitive sports, directed health building exercises, was coach and referee of sports and games. He was discharged from the U.S. Army in 1946. He moved to Albuquerque in 1958, and went to work for a small company which later became Gulton Industries, Inc. and later became Mark IV Industries. He retired from Mark IV Industries. As a young man, George was involved in many sports including baseball, tennis, swimming, bowling and golf. He spent many happy hours on the golf course with his friends, up until a few years ago. George was a devoted family man, loved his home and his family. We will miss him terribly. FULWILER -- Aileen M. Fulwiler, beloved mother, grandmother and friend passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2011. She was born Aileen Marcella Feakes on August 30, 1925 in Pine River, MN where she was raised on a farm and then attended Teacher's College. After teaching grades 1-8 in a one room rural Minnesota "country school" for four years, she left the country life for San Diego, CA where she worked as an inspector for Honeywell in the production of B-36 airplanes during WWII. After transfer to Fort Worth, TX with Honeywell, she met her husband, Hal, who came complete with two boys, Cal and Rey, and a daughter, Suzi. Aileen, Hal, and boys moved to Pensacola, Florida where they opened a mobile home sales business, but missing the mountains of NM, Hal soon brought his family to Questa, NM where they bought "Cottonwood Park", a fishing resort with cabins on the banks of the Red River. During their 13 years there, they became parents of a boy, Jeff, and a girl, Debbie. In 1971, they moved to Albuquerque and started another business, "Potteryland", which they operated until retirement. Aileen loved to play golf, fish, garden, and read. She was especially eager to babysit her grandchildren when they were young. While raising her own children, she was an avid volunteer in the schools, libraries, girl scouts, and community hospitals, all while working alongside her husband in their businesses. She also worked for the Social Security Administration in Albuquerque for ten years. She was always there for her friends and family and was an inspiration in her strong faith in God and giving spirit. Aileen is survived by her son, Jeff and her daughter, Debbie Saunders, both of Albuquerque; stepson, Rey Fulwiler, and wife Julie of Edgewood, stepson Cal Fulwiler of Lake Tahoe, NV, stepdaughter, Suzi Houston of Biloxi, MS; grandchildren Steve and Sam Saunders of Albuquerque, Scott and Grant Fulwiler of Seattle, step-grandaughter, Elizabeth Sanchez and husband Levi of Edgewood, and several other step-grandchildren who reside out of state. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hal; her parents; and her brothers Harold and Bruce Feakes. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Stephens United Methodist Church, 4601 Juan Tabo Blvd NE. There will be a viewing and visiting time at the church before the ceremony beginning at 2:00 p.m. Following the burial at Sunset Memorial Park, a reception will be held at La Vida Llena Retirement Center, 10501 Lagrima De Oro, NE. GUNTHORPE -- Theresa J. Gunthorpe (Terry) passed away peacefully on March 10th, 2011 after a long battle with lung cancer. Terry's life journey began February 8, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan. Terry was a beautiful, proud, intelligent and thoughtful woman. She will be dearly missed. The former Terry Reed and Gary C. Gunthorpe were married July 2, 2006; one year to the day after their chance internet encounter and settled in Albuquerque. A devoted wife and loved by all whose life she touched, Terry is survived by her husband, three stepsons, six step grandchildren, two brothers, three sisters, five nephews, a niece and one great-niece. KOONTZ -- Francis Clare Koontz passed away on March 11, 2011, in Corrales with her family at her side after a courageous battle against cancer. She was born on November 25, 1951, in Albuquerque, NM and grew up in Corrales, NM. She attended high school in Ft. Sumner, NM and received her bachelor's degree at the University of New Mexico. After teaching for several years in New Mexico and Arizona, she moved to Texas in 1978 where she operated the Koontz/Baylor Ranch in Montell, TX, for 15 years prior to earning her Juris Doctorate from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, TX at the age of 45. She worked as an assistant public defender in the US Public Defender's Office in San Antonio until her recent retirement. Clare was a beautiful person, a true "free spirit" who cared deeply and worked diligently for the rights of the underprivileged and who truly made a difference in making the world a better place. She touched many lives through her kindness and generosity as well as those with whom she shared her delicious creations from her kitchen. She is survived by her parents, Jasper and Ella Dee Koontz of Corrales; her brother, Jim and his wife, Marilee of Ft. Sumner; her brother Court and his wife, Anne of Corrales; her nephew, Clay Koontz and his wife, Lisa of Albuquerque; her nephew, Justin Koontz and his wife, Taylor of Lubbock, TX; his nephew, Jasper Koontz of Chandler, AZ; her nephew Courtenay W. Koontz of Corrales; two great-nephews, one great-niece and many very close friends. MAES -- Jesusita "Jessie" Maes, age 88, of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord, with her loving family at her side, Saturday, March 12, 2011. Jessie was a loving wife to Ambrosio Maes, her husband of 62 years. He preceded her in death in 2006. She was born and raised in Willard, NM. During WWII, she became "Rosie the Riveter" in Bremerton, WA. After the war, she returned to Willard, where she met and married Ambrosio in 1946. They then moved to Albuquerque, where they spent the rest of their lives. Jessie is survived by two loving sisters, Maria Maes and Rose McTeague and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews who adored her greatly. Pallbearers will be George Gomez, Fernando Flores, Antonio Flores, Robert Romero, Enriquez Maes, and Bobby Borrego. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason Edwards, Derek Romero, Erik Gomez, and Herman Chavez. A Rosary will be recited Monday, March 14, 2011 at 7:00 p.m., at French-Lomas Chapel. MORRISON -- Patricia Kelly Morrison, 88, died peacefully at home on Sunday, March 6, 2011. She is survived by her children, Betsy Morrison of Albuquerque, John Morrison and wife Joanna of Henderson, NV, and Patty Ann Morrison of Sonora, CA; her brothers, John Kelly of Harwich, MA, and Joseph Kelly and wife Suzanne of Glendora, CA; her grandchildren, Frog Rainbowstar, wife Dawn and foster children Katelynn and Adam of Florissant, CO, Jacob Dixon of Tijeras, NM, and great-granddaughter Layla Dixon, Elizabeth Wirth, husband Billy and great-granddaughter Amelia Kelly Wirth of Henderson, Rachel Michel, husband Justin and great-granddaughter Allison Jane Michel of Unterfraundor, Germany, Nicholas Morrison and wife Jessica of Anaheim, CA, and Andrew Morrison of Henderson; and great-grandson Shean Rainbowstar, of Gunnison, CO. Pat was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Donald Morrison; parents, Aileen and Joseph Kelly; sister-in-law Katherine Kelly and grandson Joseph Dixon. SPRINGER -- "Mac" Macedonio R., lifetime resident passed away peacefully Thursday, February 10, 2011, after a short illness, surrounded by his loving family. Mac was a retired Baliff for the Second Judicial District Court under District Judge James A. Maloney and District Judge Philip R. Ashby. Prior to his service with the State of New Mexico, he retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Mac was a veteran of the U.S. Marines serving during WWII at Guadalcanal. He was a member of the American Legion, Veteran's of Foreign War, Disabled American Veterans, Military Order of the Purple Heart. He also belonged to the Institute for Certification of Engineering Technicians, American Society of Certified Engineers and Senior Certified Engineer Technician. Mac enjoyed fishing, oil painting, restoring antiques, playing black jack and poker. He is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Alfred L. Romero, Jr., father, Henry Springer, mother, Carmelita R. Springer, who were members of the pioneer Springer Family that settled in Old Town in 1862, and by his grandson Angelo Chavez. He is survived by his sister, Cecilia Romero, son, Michael, daughter, Marilyn and husband Bill, grandchildren, Damon, Rochelle, Devin, Vanessa, Aaron, great grandchildren, Chrystal, Joseph, Cyrea, Maya, Justin, Jr., nieces, Carmen Baca, Christine Romero, Rita Zamora, Carla Romero, nephew, Lawrence Romero, and eleven great nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Mr. Springer will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at San Felipe De Neri Catholic Church, 2005 N. Plaza St. NW, Old Town. A reception will be held immediately following at the Mission Church of San Jose in Los Duranes, 2110 Los Luceros Rd., NW. In a private ceremony, interment will be at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. The Family would like to thank everyone at Princeton Place Nursing Center for the comfort and care given to Mr. Springer and would like to thank all of the dedicated Doctors and nursing staff at the Raymond G. THOMAS -- John W. (Jack) Thomas (86) passed on, early Sunday morning March 6, 2011. An Albuquerque resident since 1960, he was born in Manhattan and raised in New York City. He grew to love dove and pheasant hunting with his Labrador, fishing, sailing and fine food. He left this Earth in good spirit, without pain. Jack is survived by his wife of 37 years, Consuelo G. Thomas from Old Mesilla, NM, now of Largo, Fl; his sister Charlotte T. Lowry of New York; six children: Stephen John and wife Therese of Flagstaff; Consuelo Josephine of St. Petersburg, Fl; William Gustave of Alb.; John W. Jr. and James Edgar, Carla Eugenia and husband Scott Kominiak all of Alb. Six grandchildren, Ramona and Taylor Thomas, Sean and Alec Burnett, Owen and Tice Kominiak. And his niece, Nancy Hastings of Maine. Jack lived a full life. As a youngster he became practiced in photography to the point of having his own darkroom. During his teenage years he worked with his uncle, helping in the manufacturing of surgical instruments. He attended Stuyvesant High in New York City. Upon graduation from high school he joined the Army Air Corps in order to help the Allies in Europe. He was soon attending bombardier training in California. Jack would often comment on the beauty of California's citrus groves. He was stationed in Southern Italy with the 463rd Bomb Group. One of his missions involved bombing a ball bearing plant outside of his mother's hometown in Hungary. His B-17 was shot down and he was a POW for several months. Jack did not like the War and considered it a great loss of men and resources, but considered it his duty to help. Jack earned the rank of 1st lieutenant while with the Corps. Jack attended New Mexico State University on the GI bill and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Here he met his soon to be wife and mother of his children, Consuelo Griggs. Moving to New York and working on Long Island for various engineering firms, Jack helped perfect the welding of aluminum for airline and rocket use. 1960 found Jack moving his family from Long Island to Albuquerque. He continued his engineering career while working on the opening of his own business. Mother's Day 1962 saw the opening of El Pinto Restaurant in Albuquerques North Valley. Jack managed the restaurant as if it were his home, allowing his patrons to have a pleasant and delicious dining experience. Using the Griggs Family recipes of Old Mesilla, New Mexico, El Pinto soon became a favorite of Albuquerque! There will be a memorial service held at French Mortuary on Wyoming at 2:30 to 3:30pm Thursday, March 17, 2011. A gathering for friends and family will be at El Pinto Restaurant from 4:30 to 6:30pm that day. Jacks ashes will be interned at the National Cemetery of Santa Fe.
