ANDERSON -- Joseph J. (Andy) Anderson, January 14, 1927 - March 4, 2011. Andy was born in a working farm family, the youngest of seven children in Pickaway County, Ohio. He learned his work ethic and love of sports in Ohio, and he loved the Ohio State Buckeyes. In 1944, at the age of 17 he enlisted in the US Navy and was on board the USS Essex during the final year of WWII. He later switched to the USAF and retired as a MSGT. As a young airman at Kirtland AFB he was a referee at the NM HS basketball tournament. Bennie Lovato met him and introduced him to Rose C. Lovato. Andy and Rose married in October of 1955 and that marriage continued for over 55 years until his death. Tommy was born, then Gary, and then the service took them to Okinawa where Kenny was born. Off to Cannon AFB where Edwina and Lorraine were welcomed into the family. Many good friends were made at Cannon AFB. Then off to Ramstein Germany, Tucson AZ, and San Antonio TX. The family made Albuquerque home upon retirement and were members of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Many people may remember Andy as the man who played softball alongside his three sons while coaching the Albuquerque Marauders softball team. Many friends were made out on the softball field. He lovingly tended to his wife Rose when she was confined to a wheelchair. He spent many good times with Tina, Christine and Ruben at various casinos as he loved to play blackjack and sample the buffets. He was always available at family events. When it came to family, I can say "Dad, you hit a homerun". "You knocked it out of the park". With the Grace of God the Father and the love of our Savior Jesus Christ, Dad has made it HOME. Rest in Peace Dad, you earned it. We Love you: Rose. Tommy, Carol, Stephanie and Allison. Gary, Heidi and Garrett. Kenny, Justina and JoAnn. Edwina, Adam and Aaron. Lorraine, Glenn, Ryan, Sean and Shannon. Tina, David, Christine, Ruben, Elaine and Lorraine. And many members of the T. M. Lovato family tree. Memorial Rosary will be Friday, March 11, 2011, 8:00 a.m. at the Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Road, NE. Mass of Christian Burial will continue at 9:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you take a kid to a ballgame. Dad would have liked that.
