ALLENSWORTH -- Joan Martha Allensworth, Home free, in the arms of her Lord Jesus Christ. She joins her parents, Julius and Cecilia Mackey, her brothers Robert, Paul, Jerry and Bill, her sisters Mary, Rosie and Lois, her son Daniel and her granddaughter Elizabeth McNew. She leaves behind her children and their spouses: Mary McKee and her husband, Gary, Lisa Westfall and her husband, John, Beverly Anderson, Judy McNew and her husband Kevin, Susan Wiley and her husband, Greg, James Allensworth and his wife Ana, and Andrew Allensworth and his wife, Susan. She was a generous and kind grandmother to nineteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, James Mackey, Larry Mackey, Tommy Mackey and Johnny Mackey, their families and many nieces and nephews, all in Ohio. She worked as a nurse for several years in Albuquerque at Presbyterian Hospital, St. Francis Gardens, and Mesa Del Sol Good Samaritan. She volunteered at St. Francis Gardens, Sisters of the Poor in Cincinnati and Ronald McDonald House. Joan comforted many in their final hours of life, including her brother, Monsignor Father Robert Mackey, S.M. Joan was a devout Roman Catholic and could be found in the mornings praying quietly at the dining room table. She was a friend to many, an inspiration to her children, and will be missed by all who knew her. She loved walking, gardening, visiting with friends, and sewing. We have yet to duplicate her delicious cinnamon rolls! She was an avid Star Trek fan from the show's earliest beginnings, and loved a variety of music with jazz being one of her favorites. She lived simply and served others graciously, traveling for extended times to Denver and Omaha to help care for her granddaughters who were ill. The family wishes to thank her caregivers, residents and staff at St. John Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, her family in Ohio, and Total Community Care - PACE for their compassionate care of our mother the last several years. A Rosary will be recited Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 5:00 PM flowered by celebration of the Memorial Funeral Mass at 5:30 p.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5310 Claremont NE. ANDERSON -- Joseph J. (Andy) Anderson, January 14, 1927 - March 4, 2011. Andy was born in a working farm family, the youngest of seven children in Pickaway County, Ohio. He learned his work ethic and love of sports in Ohio, and he loved the Ohio State Buckeyes. In 1944, at the age of 17 he enlisted in the US Navy and was on board the USS Essex during the final year of WWII. He later switched to the USAF and retired as a MSGT. As a young airman at Kirtland AFB he was a referee at the NM HS basketball tournament. Bennie Lovato met him and introduced him to Rose C. Lovato. Andy and Rose married in October of 1955 and that marriage continued for over 55 years until his death. Tommy was born, then Gary, and then the service took them to Okinawa where Kenny was born. Off to Cannon AFB where Edwina and Lorraine were welcomed into the family. Many good friends were made at Cannon AFB. Then off to Ramstein Germany, Tucson AZ, and San Antonio TX. The family made Albuquerque home upon retirement and were members of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Many people may remember Andy as the man who played softball alongside his three sons while coaching the Albuquerque Marauders softball team. Many friends were made out on the softball field. He lovingly tended to his wife Rose when she was confined to a wheelchair. He spent many good times with Tina, Christine and Ruben at various casinos as he loved to play blackjack and sample the buffets. He was always available at family events. When it came to family, I can say "Dad, you hit a homerun". "You knocked it out of the park". With the Grace of God the Father and the love of our Savior Jesus Christ, Dad has made it HOME. Rest in Peace Dad, you earned it. We Love you: Rose. Tommy, Carol, Stephanie and Allison. Gary, Heidi and Garrett. Kenny, Justina and JoAnn. Edwina, Adam and Aaron. Lorraine, Glenn, Ryan, Sean and Shannon. Tina, David, Christine, Ruben, Elaine and Lorraine. And many members of the T. M. Lovato family tree. Memorial Rosary will be Friday, March 11, 2011, 8:00 a.m. at the Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Road, NE.
