BULLINGTON -- Iola Lois Bullington 1915 - 2011. God stretched out His hand and the angels carried home, Iola Lois Bullington, age 95, a resident of Truth or Consequences on Thursday, January 20, 2011. Iola was a member of the First Baptist Church in Truth or Consequences. She was born in Calloway County, Kentucky. Iola and her dad were moving to Colorado for health reasons. When they got to Abo, New Mexico, their car broke down. Milton Alexander "M.A." Bullington, Jr. rode up on his horse and asked if they needed help. Iola's dad explained the situation and M.A. showed them a house they could stay in until they were ready to move on. The rest is history; M.A. and Iola were married December 23, 1935 and had 61 wonderful years together before his passing. Iola was an honorary member of the Mountainair Fire Department and was attending First Baptist Church of Mountainair. In addition to her beloved husband, Milton Alexander "M.A." Bullington, Jr., Iola was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Floyd Skinner and Nellie Eugenia Brigham Skinner and a sister, Eugenia Lucille Skinner. She is survived by her three children, Walter Bullington and his wife, Donna of Truth or Consequences, Wanda Sullinger and her husband, Jimmy of Mountainair and Dorothy Hoot Bullington and her husband, Irby of Crosby, TX; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Gayleen and Sean Gifford, Danny and Carol Bullington, Thomas and Kim Corey, Stacey Corey and Adam Butler, Tammy and Larry Zamora, Shelly and Cary Ostrander, Cheryl and Rob Slone and Shawna and Jon Holston; 12 great-grandchildren, Shelby Bullington, Lauren Bullington, Brandon Rawson, Alexandria and Mark Morrison Roberts, Garrett Knuppell, Cory Ostrander, Megan Ostrander, Ryan Slone, Jamie Slone, Abigail Holston, Vincent Zamora and Victor Zamora; Also surviving is one great-great-grandson, Damien Roberts; and numerous nieces and nephews. All services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Mountainair on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private. Members of the Mountainair Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.
