GARCIA -- Christa Garcia, wonderful, loving, wife and mother, born February 12, 1922 in Zoblitz, Germany, went to meet her heavenly Father on January 6, 2011. Christa was the second oldest of 16 children born to Alexander and Ida Margarethe Braune. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Arturo C. Garcia; daughter, Cynthia Garcia-Rugotska and husband Roger, who is currently serving in Afghanistan; son, Don Paul; grandsons, Zane and Colton; three sisters, Renate, Eva, and Ruth; one brother Manfred in Germany; nine nieces; five nephews; 16 great-nieces; ten great-nephews; 39 great-great nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and friends. Arturo and Christa met in Berlin Germany, after WWII, were married in Germany and Arturo brought her to the United States. During the 50's Christa worked at several jobs to put Arturo through medical school. After his graduation they had a successful medical practice, with Christa serving as his nurse, in Grants, NM and later in Albuquerque, NM. In 1964, Arturo and Christa bought passage on a ship for her sister Elfriede and her six children to immigrate to this great country of the United States of America. In those days they had to sponsor and support immigrants to make sure they would be self-sufficient, had jobs, and had a home. We will never forget the great sacrifice you made for us Tante Christa. We know there is a special place in heaven for your kindness, love and compassion.
