GILES -- Cleavord Norell Giles, 84, a resident of Albuquerque for 58 years, died at home on Wednesday, December 15, 2010, after losing his battle with cancer. Cleavord is survived by his wife of 62 years, Pearl Giles; his daughter, Carey Fullem, and husband, Paul Fullem of San Antonio, Texas; his son, Steven Giles, and wife Dr. Dana Giles of Amarillo, Texas; granddaughter Candace Cooper; granddaughter Tiffany Dow, and husband, Sgt. Frank Dow; son-in-law Thomas Zettel; and was predeceased by his daughter Linda Zettel. Cleavord was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, and grew up in Portales, New Mexico. He served in both the United States Navy and Naval Reserve, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. After earning a BSEE degree from the University of Oklahoma, he joined Sandia Corporation in 1952, and retired from there after almost 40 years of service. Cleavord volunteered for the Albuquerque Police Department, the Rio Grande Zoo, the Albuquerque Public Schools, the State of New Mexico Corrections Department Education Bureau Book Alliance Program, and Habitat for Humanity. A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at 9:30, at Daniels Family Funeral Services, Wyoming Chapel, reception will follow the viewing at 11:00 at the same location. Final internment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery Wednesday, December, 22 at 2:30. Those who wish to send condolences may do so at www.danielsfuneral.com.
