COLE -- Charlotte Cleaves Cole, age 88, died Tuesday, December 7, 2010. She was born in Montclair, NJ and graduated from Montclair Secretarial School and worked as a secretary in New Jersey and for the Selective Service System during WWII. She and Hubert Cole were married in 1947 and came to New Mexico in 1950 for him to work at Sandia Corp. They recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary. Charlotte worked as a secretary for the Albuquerque YMCA, was a PTA President and served on the PTA State Board. She sang with the Sweet Adelines and was a member of the Duke City Duchesses Red Hat Group, and Bagel Buddies. She was a charter member of Sombra Del Monte Christian Church and served as Elder, President of Christian Women's Fellowship, and sang in the choir. Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Barbara Strongin and husband, Tim; and grandchildren Matt and wife, Kyle, Eric and Emily. She is also survived by her son, Doug Cole and wife, Gail and grandchildren Tanya, Lindsay and husband, Brian Wiley, and Travis. She is also survived by her sisters, Barbara Hegge and family, Susan Varnell and family, David and Bill Hegge and family, and nephews, Donald, Gerard and David Cleaves and their families. A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., at Sombra Del Monte Christian Church, 2525 Vermont St. NE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charlotte's name to Sombra Del Monte Christian Church or the charity of your choice.
