ROGERS -- Lorene. A Service of Remembrance for Lorene (Nelson) Rogers, 67, will be at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at the First Congregational Church, Fireside Room, 165 E. Mill Avenue, Porterville, CA. Lorene died November 14, 2010, in San Diego. She was born in Raton, NM, grew up in Albuquerque, and graduated from Rio Grande High School. Lorene moved to Porterville, CA, and was employed by the U.S. Forest Service, Sequoia National Forest, for 30 plus years, retiring in l994 as their Budget Officer. She was a devoted mother to her son, Chad, spending time with him in both school and after-school activities. Her hobbies included gardening (especially roses), doing crossword puzzles, and knick-knack collecting. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Myrtle Nelson; and twin sister, Lois Truman. Survivors include her son, Chad Gray, OR; brother, Jack Nelson of San Diego; sister, Elizabeth (Tony) Romero, TX; brother-in-law, Maurice Truman, SD; nieces, Suzanne (Rich) Callis, NM; and Christy (Troy) Ranes (sons T.J. and Ryan) OH; and sister-in-law, Vicki (Dan) Yarbrough; nieces Lisa (John) Wilson, their children; and Lauri Yarbrough; CA. Interment will be at a later date.
