ALDERMAN -- Minnie Ruth Alderman, 85, long time resident of Albuquerque, born March 31, 1925 in Hattiesburg, MS, daughter of Albert and Olevia Hill, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2010. She is survived by her daughter, Becky Walker and husband Ralph; grandsons, Stephen James Walker and wife Jasmyn and Dr. Scott Farrell Walker; brother, Bobby G. Hill; sister, Lillian T. Rogers, cousins, nieces and nephews. Minnie Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Dr. James O. Alderman, on November 23, 2009; sisters, Lucille G. Radford, Myra Ann Givens, Rosalie G. Alderman, and her brother, John W. Givens. In her youth she was a 4-H member winning county, state, and national awards including National Congress at Chicago. She was a life long member of the Baptist church. Minnie Ruth enjoyed participating as an organist, pianist, choir member, and Sunday school teacher. She and her family provided ministry to Vista Del Rio Senior Assisted Living Home in Albuquerque, and she volunteered for the Red Cross. Minnie Ruth enjoyed all sports, participating in swimming, bowling, basketball, and softball. She found great pleasure in attending and cheering for her daughter in athletic and academic competitions, and later her grandson's Stephen and Scott. Upon her husband's retirement from the United State Air Force she received a certificate of appreciation which read as follows: "Has earned grateful appreciation for her own unselfish, faithful, and devoted service. Her unfailing support and understanding helped to make possible her husbands lasting contribution to the nation" - 28 1/2 years served on active duty. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Wyoming location, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2010. Funeral service will be held at French, Wyoming Chapel, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 27, 2010. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Sunset Memorial Park.
