MONTOYA -- Philip T. Montoya was born December 1, 1927. He served in the Navy during WWII and was present at the Japanese surrender on board the Missouri. Felipe spent most of his adult life in Albuquerque. He was a lifetime member of the Elks, VFW and the American Legion. His last few years were spent living in Gallup being cared for by his granddaughter Kathleen and grandson Frank Sanchez. Mr. Montoya suffered from a rare disease called PSP. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to PSP research in his name. Felipe Montoya will be laid to rest at Santa Fe National Cemetary on July 16, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.
