WYRICK -- John William Wyrick, age 80, of Albuquerque, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010. John received many medals and citations from the US Army before his retirement, after 21 years of service to his country. He was a life member of VFW Post 5890 and DAV Chapter 5 in Rio Rancho. John's family was his life. John had his special way of touching our lives and hearts that will remain with us forever and will be greatly missed by all. He had very special connections with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by Betty, his loving and caring wife of 19 years; sons, Tom Shoats and wife, May and Tim Scherer and wife, Tracy; daughter, Joy Booker and husband, Clayton; sister, Mae Makings; brother (in-law), Don Hudon and wife, Marg; grandchildren, Tessa, Christopher, Chantel, Tommy Jr., Travis, Kelly, Valerie, Robert, Helene, Vernique; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Minnie Wyrick; sister, Ruby Murdock; daughter, Patricia Chasco; and son, John Shoats. A Memorial Rosary will be recited Monday, June 14, at 7:00 p.m., at French - Westside Chapel. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, June 15, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos NW. A committal service will be held Wednesday, June 16, at 10:00 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery with full military honors.
