PELLEGRINO -- George Sergio Pellegrino, 60, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Judie; daughter and son-in-law, Raina and Stephen Barnes; son, Kristofer; grandchildren, October and Liam Barnes; and many relatives and friends, including long-time friend and business partner Victoria L. Magown. George was born on June 22, 1949 in Brooklyn, NY to Thomas and Lillian Pellegrino. A carpenter who worked his way up to owning his own remodeling business, he abruptly changed career paths after a significant car accident. George devoted the last half of his life to the practice and betterment of the field of myofascial therapy and has a published paper in the American Academy of Pain Management's Spring journal. An active member of the local astronomical community, George was instrumental in getting an observatory built south of Belen to house a telescope for use in public education and scientific observation. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, committed to sharing his passion for learning and life, and he will be missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place. The family would like to thank Victoria Magown for her extraordinary support in caring for George in the final stages of his illness. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his name to The Albuquerque Astronomical Society, PO Box 50581 Albuquerque, NM 87181. Please include a note indicating the donation is in honor of George Pellegrino. French 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE (505) 823-9400
