FRAZIER -- Larry Frazier Sr., 70, died peacefully on the morning of Saturday, September 12, 2009 at his home in Rio Rancho, NM after a short, yet difficult struggle with cancer. He was born February 18, 1939 in Chicago, IL to the late Cecile Frazier and Trudy Angstadt. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; his children, Larry Jr., Gregory, and Sara; siblings, Doris Raney, and Bruce Frazier; his dear friends, David and Cathy Perkins; loving extended family and friends; and his devoted dog, Lola. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert. Larry joined the US Navy at a young age, served during the Viet Nam war on the destroyer USS William H. Standley, and was honored with the Republic of Viet Nam Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Viet Nam Service Medal (2 Bronze Stars). He was honorably discharged in 1968. Larry earned a Bachelor's of Science degree from the University of California Northridge and worked as an electrical engineer for the Xerox Corporation for 32 years. Larry enjoyed the birth of his sons, Larry Jr. in 1967 and Gregory in 1971. He married Sandra Beukema in 1981 in Westlake Village, CA. Their daughter Sara was born in 1985, while living in Simi Valley, CA. The 1994 Northridge earthquake all but destroyed their home, so Larry, Sandra and Sara moved to Rio Rancho, NM in 1995. Larry had always been active in softball and bowling and especially enjoyed bowling after his retirement at Ten Pins Bowling Alley in Rio Rancho. Larry lived a peaceful, happy life and was always quick to offer assistance and guidance to anyone in need. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2009, 4:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Westside Chapel. Interment of cremated remains will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.
