BLANKENBURG -- William A. (Bill) Blankenburg, 87, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 15 years, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2009. He came to Rio Rancho from Santa Fe. Bill was born February 15, 1922 the son of Paul and Lelia Munn Blankenburg in Panhandle, Texas. He served in the United States Army during World War II, was involved in the Italian campaign, and the occupation of Germany where he met his future wife Helen. They came to the United States in 1953. He was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers; and his wife Helen in 2006. Bill is survived by five daughters, Pat Branigan and husband Dwight of Euless, TX, Gay Meeks of Mustang, OK, Linda Hill and husband Richard of Healdton, OK, Else Couzin and husband Bill of Felton, CA, and Jenny Warner and husband Jim of Rio Rancho, NM; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, August 31, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. For those who wish, you may send condolences to the family at www.danielsfuneral.com.
