FAMARISS -- Thelma Jackson Famariss, 94, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, since 1983, died on Tuesday, July 28, 2009. She was predeceased by her husband Walter Famariss, Jr. and is survived by a daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ms. Famariss was born on October 1, 1914, in Logan, Oklahoma, and eventually moved to Pampa, Texas, where she worked in hospital administration. There she met her husband, Walter Famariss, Jr., and they married in 1936 and moved to Hobbs, New Mexico, where they worked in the oil refinery industry. Once she moved to Albuquerque, she became civically involved in a number of clubs, including the Literary Club, Beta Sigma Phi, garden clubs, and other similar organizations. She was a veracious reader, a fabulous cook, loved her family dearly and always had a smile and a kind word for all who encountered her. A memorial service for Ms. Famariss will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Bear Canyon Estates Chapel, 4440 Morris Street NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico, 87111.
