MEAD -- Frances Harvey Mead, born April 12, 1916, died on Friday, June 26, 2009. Her parents were Jim D. Harvey and Abbie Ferguson Harvey. She married Mach Mead in 1936. She is survived by her husband, Mach; children, James L. Mead and wife, Joan, Jane M. Barberousse and husband, Bob, and John M. Mead; grandchildren, Douglas Barberousse, Jennifer B. Brewer and Marie Mead. Since her father was a minister of the Church of Christ, she spent her early years in several towns in West Texas. Frances graduated from Colorado City High School in Texas and attended Abilene Christian College. She married Mack Mead in 1936 and moved to Big Springs, TX where her husband was employed in the family owned and operated wholesale bakery. Then she moved to Wichita Falls, TX where she got her Private Pilot License. Her next move was to Lubbock, TX, then to San Juan, Puerto Rico, Roswell, NM and last to Albuquerque. She enjoyed gardening, and being a member of the garden club where ever she lived. Her family came first, and her home was always open to many friends. Bible Study was a must in her life and all needle work was a pleasure but fly fishing was her most pleasant past time. The summers spent at the house near the Conejos River in southern Colorado were very special. She was a member of Hoffmantown Church. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2009, 2:30 p.m., at French ~ Wyoming Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the charity of your choice.
