BROOME -- Kevin G. Broome, 60, passed away peacefully at his brother's home on Thursday, June 25, 2009, after a lengthy illness. Kevin was born on November 6, 1948, in Buffalo, NY. He graduated from Bryant and Stratton Business in Buffalo. Kevin served in the United States Air Force Reserves before relocating to Albuquerque in 1986. He was employed with the Albuquerque Public Schools as a clerical/technical employee for 23 years. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Mullineux Broome of Albuquerque; two brothers, James Broome and wife, Jamie, of Louisville, KY and Paul Broome and wife, Mique, of Albuquerque, NM. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, James and Gertrude Broome. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity toward everyone in his life and his devotion to his family. The family gratefully acknowledges the kindness of Vista Hospice, especially nurse Chantell Sheppard, the APS Health and Wellness employees, and his many family and friends who supported Kevin during his illness. CATES -- Anna Lee Cates was born August 10, 1926 in Pullman, West Virginia to Noah and Lorena Riggs. Anna Lee passed away on June 25, 2009 at Presbyterian Hospice in Albuquerque. Anna Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Thayer "Pete" Cates. She is survived by two daughters, Diana Dunbar and Vicki Herrera. Other surviving family members include, son-in-law Len Herrera, Roberta "Red" Martinez; grandchildren and their spouses, Eric & Tania Dunbar, Andrew & Yasmine Dunbar, Michael Higley, Jeffrey Herrera, and Daniele & Alex Lau. Great-grandchildren include Marcus and Avery Dunbar, Gabriel, Daniel and Connor Dunbar, Taryn and Kai Lau along with numerous nieces and nephews. Anna Lee retired as the Chief Deputy of the Supreme Court Clerks Office in Arizona. Anna Lee was an active member in numerous charitable organizations, which included Amaranth and Eastern Star where she held the highest offices attainable in these local organizations. A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Rio Rancho United Methodist Church, 1652 Abrazo Rd. NE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124. Inurnment will follow services in the Rose Garden at Vista Verde Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Diabetes Association in honor of Anna Lee. CORDOVA -- Monica Jane Cordova was born September 5, 1955 and passed away on Friday, June 26, 2009. Monica was born in Albuquerque, NM and was the daughter of Maurice and Elizabeth Cordova. Monica is survived by her only child, Angelica Schaaf Rayl; husband Kevin Rayl; and four grandsons, Jacob Cranston, Kieran, Noah, and Samuel Rayl, of Rio Rancho. She is survived by parents; siblings Joe Cordova (Yvonne), Mike Cordova (Liz), Yolanda Fernandez (Charles), and Yvonne Rimbert (Mark). EVERETT -- Forrest Gene Everett, 83, a resident to Belen, N.M. passed from this world on Friday, June . Forrest volunteered to serve in the United States Navy during World War II. He spent his entire enlistment aboard the U.S.S. Lunga Point CVE 94. After his enlistment ended , he returned to Albuquerque, N.M. where he joined his father at Rupert Plumbing and Heating Co. He was proud to tell everyone that he was the luckiest man in the world. He was able to work at a job he loved and for the same man, for over 40 years. After his retirement, his greatest pleasure was to spend time with his family and pets Ruby and Lola. He never met an animal he did not love at first sight. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and riding his bicycle through the neighborhood. Forrest was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Y. Everett and his parents, Ermine Forrest Everett and Cleo Lily Everett . He was also preceded in death by his special companion, Fannie Mae Little. Forrest is survived by his daughter, Hollie Blakesley and husband, David; granddaughter, Samantha Everett and her fiance, Thomas H Taylor, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Christian, Nicole, and Daniel;, sister-in-law, Justine Lemke and husband, David ; niece, Charlotte Buckmaster and husband, Dave and cousins, Gary and Peggy Forbis, and numerous other members of the Forbis and Blakesley families. Forrest was a member of the Episcopal Church. The family would like to express their gratitude to the following people, Dr. Richard Madden and the staff of the Presbyterian Health Center of Belen, Dr. Charles Combs and his staff, and the angels that comprise the Presbyterian Hospice program, in particular Pam Mares. The love and compassion you have shown us over the last 10 years will never be forgotten. Words cannot express our gratitude. A celebration of Forrest's life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Riverside Funeral Home of Belen, 418 W. GARCIA -- Erminda Perea Garcia, age 80, a beautiful, loving and strong life time resident of Corrales passed away Friday, June 26, 2009. Erminda is survived by her daughters, Sylvia and husband Clory Sena, Nora Bowers and son Mario Olvera. She had nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Adelina Cordova, Francis and husband Tony Crispen, Viola and husband Clifford Farfan. Rosary services will be held Sunday, June 28, 2009 at 7:00 pm at San Ysidro Church. A mass will be held Monday, June 29, 2009 at 11:00 am at the San Ysidro Church. GURULE -- Alfonso Gurule, born May 24, 1936, in Albuquerque (Alameda), New Mexico, passed away at the age of 73 on Thursday, June 25, 2009. He was preceded in death by: Cresenciano Gurule (Father); Merlinda Saiz Gurule (Mother); and Francis Sanchez (Sister). Survivors are his wife, Juanita Gurule of Alameda, NM; son, John Henry Gurule and wife, Mary Gurule, John P. Gurule (grandson); son, Matthew Brian Gurule and wife, Karlin Gurule, their daughters Olivia and Ashley; daughter, Teresa Consuelo Von Antropof and husband, Christoph and children Christoph and Ariella; sisters, Silvia Garcia, Beatrice Aragon, Florence Archibeque, and Sadie Whitaker Alfonso leaves many nieces and nephews, and was loved and respected by many relatives and friends. Alfonso was a retired Albuquerque Fire Fighter of 23 years, and a Veteran of both the Army and Air National Guard. Services will be held at The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Alameda, NM. A rosary will be held on Wednesday evening July 1, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. with a mass held at the same location on Thursday July 2, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. and a reception following in the parish hall. A private burial will be held at the Santa Fe National Memorial Cemetery on Friday, July 3, 2009.

HITZEMANN -- Esther Mae Hitzemann, 87, passed quietly on June 2, 2009 after a prolonged illness. She is survived by her son, Dr. Robert Hitzemann; daughter, Holly Hitzemann; granddaughters Kristin and Heather Hitzemann and Laura Brandon; grandson, Vincent Brandon; sister Ella Fuqua; sister-in-law Doris Heindorn and daughter-in-law, Barbara Hitzemann. Ms Hitzemann was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and attended Norwood High School. She met and married her husband Orville Hitzemann in 1944. Orville passed away in July, 2001. They were married for 57 years, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their children and grandchildren in Albuquerque, NM. Ms. Hitzemann was a wonderful singer, and enjoyed music with her husband, relatives, friends and church throughout her life. She also enjoyed writing, and inspired her children to write often. Ms. Hitzemann and her husband travelled the world, and lived in Europe, Central America, and South America for several years. She is remembered by many for her great laugh, beautiful smile, and wit. JUDY -- Dione N. Judy, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1990 and a former resident of Michigan, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2009. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lloyd A. Judy; children Larry A. Judy of Denver, CO and Mark S. Judy of Albuquerque; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her son-in-law Howard Grossman. Mrs. Judy was preceded in death by her daughter Karen Grossman. Dione was a lifelong member of the Christian Church. MEAD -- Frances Harvey Mead, born April 12, 1916, died on Friday, June 26, 2009. Her parents were Jim D. Harvey and Abbie Ferguson Harvey. She married Mach Mead in 1936. She is survived by her husband, Mach; children, James L. Mead and wife, Joan, Jane M. Barberousse and husband, Bob, and John M. Mead; grandchildren, Douglas Barberousse, Jennifer B. Brewer and Marie Mead. Since her father was a minister of the Church of Christ, she spent her early years in several towns in West Texas. Frances graduated from Colorado City High School in Texas and attended Abilene Christian College. She married Mack Mead in 1936 and moved to Big Springs, TX where her husband was employed in the family owned and operated wholesale bakery. Then she moved to Wichita Falls, TX where she got her Private Pilot License. Her next move was to Lubbock, TX, then to San Juan, Puerto Rico, Roswell, NM and last to Albuquerque. She enjoyed gardening, and being a member of the garden club where ever she lived. Her family came first, and her home was always open to many friends. Bible Study was a must in her life and all needle work was a pleasure but fly fishing was her most pleasant past time. The summers spent at the house near the Conejos River in southern Colorado were very special. She was a member of Hoffmantown Church. MOYA -- Alex C., age 90, a life-long resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2009. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Alex retired from the Santa Fe Railroad after 37 years of outstanding service. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Dora Moya and his son, Steven. Alex is survived by his son, Norbert Moya and wife, Rose Marie; two granddaughters, Cynthia Martin and husband, Bill and Melissa Phillips and husband, Brad; grandson, Steven and wife, Alissa; four great-grandchildren, Justin and Hayleigh Phillips, Alessandra and Stefano Moya; three sisters-in-law, Erlinda Moya, Sally Flores and Inez Vallejos; and two brothers-in-law, Herman and Joe Marquez. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. ORLANDO -- Anthony Paul Orlando, 74, passed away on June 27, 2009. Anthony was born January 5, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York to Jerome and Dorothy (Feldman) Orlando. SAAVEDRA -- Margaret L. Saavedra, born in Mountainair, NM passed away at home in Albuquerque, NM on Thursday, June 25, 2009. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Amado and Adela Chavez; her sister, Molly Chavez; and son-in-law, Lloyd Grant. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 49 years, Flaviano Saavedra, Sr.; son, Charles Esquibel and wife, Isabel; daughter, Viola Garcia and husband, Alex; daughter, Sarah Grant; son, Flaviano Saavedra, Jr.; one sister, Nestor Chavez and husband, Tony; seven brothers, Richard Chavez, Joe Chavez, Gilbert Chavez and wife, Dottie, Ernest Chavez and wife, Sandy, Lawrence Chavez, and wife, Becky, Frank Chavez and wife, Sarah, Severo Chavez and wife, Gina; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends who loved her and will miss her. Margaret was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church, the Blue Army, the Altar Rosary Society; the Holy Hour, Padre Pio, and Divine Mercy. As well, she was a Eucharistic Minister for the homebound, a member of the Queen of Peace, the choir, Vice-President of the Cesar Chavez Community Center, and was part of a group that prepared meals for the Little Brothers of the Good Shepard. Margaret also enjoyed traveling overseas and gathering with family and friends. Services will be held at Holy Ghost Catholic Parish, 833 Arizona SE, Abq, NM, near San Pedro and Gibson. A Rosary will be recited Monday, June 29, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd. NE. WIESEN -- John M. (Jack) Wiesen, 87, passed away on June 25, 2009. He was born on December 21, 1921, the son of Carl and Isabell Wiesen, in Sharon, PA. He is survived by Helen, his loving wife of 67 years. He is also survived by six children, Julianne Kubicki and husband Larry of Atlanta, GA; Nancy Barry and husband Bob of Seattle, WA; Mark Wiesen of Albuquerque, NM; Mary Beth Corgan and husband Brian of Atlanta, GA; Jim Wiesen and wife Farah of Renton, WA; Kathleen Sanchez and husband John of Albuquerque, NM; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Lou Ayers, Alice Monson, Dorothy O'Hara, Elizabeth Morganstern and brother Raymond Wiesen. Jack served 38 months in the US Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged as an Aviation Machinist Mate First Class. He received his BS in Mathematics in 1949 and his MS in Statistics in 1951, both from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. He retired from Sandia National Laboratories in December 1986, after 36 years, with the final position of Director of Systems Evaluation. Jack was active in the Quality and Reliability Fields throughout his professional career. He was a Fellow in the American Society for Quality Control and held many offices locally and nationally. He was associated with the Annual Reliability and Maintainability Symposium, serving on the Management Committee for several years, as General Chairman in 1977 and Chairman of the Board of Directors in 1978. He was an active member of the St. Joseph Medical Center Auxiliary and served in several volunteer positions since 1986. He was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish. The Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Lomas at Tennessee on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Edward Domme, Celebrant.
