CONDON -- Elmer Patrick Condon, 92, a resident of Albuquerque since 1958, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 18, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara; children, John Condon and wife, Julie, Patty Pulsifer and husband, Paul, Sandi Newton and husband, Dean, John Drake and wife, Mary, Berna Faulkner, and Kathy Martinez and husband, Joe; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents Patrick and Bessie Condon. He was born on September 16, 1916 in Missouri and spent his childhood working on the family farm. He became a Chef at the Muhlbach Hotel in Kansas City and moved to the El Rancho in Gallup, NM in 1947. He spent a couple of years in Clarkdale, AZ before moving to Albuquerque where he worked at both The Robin Hood Inn, and The Hardy Steakhouse. His career concluded at the Old Co-op in Estancia, NM. Elmer accomplished a special honor by getting to cook for two Presidents, Truman and Eisenhower, and numerous movie stars in the early 50's at the El Rancho. Cooking was his passion. Elmer's work ethic was outstanding, no matter where he worked. He loved to play golf, and played up till 90 years old and always shot 42. Elmer was a very caring person, always helping others to better themselves. He loved a good joke, always laughing and filling others with laughter. Elmer was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Friend and family may visit French Mortuary - Wyoming Branch, Sunday, June 21, 2009 from 12:00 noon to Rosary at 1:00 p.m. A Resurrection Mass will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 12500 Carmel Ave. NE on Monday, June 22, 2009, 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
