BURWINKLE -- John Vincent Burwinkle, Jr., 71, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, June 18, 2009 after a brave battle with progressive supranuclear palsy. He is survived by his spouse, Angelina Burwinkle of Albuquerque; his children, Marie Rennekamp and husband, David of Portland, OR, Catherine Penick and husband, Jack, of Albuquerque, Deborah Sanchez and husband, James of Albuquerque, Thomas Riccobene and wife, Janie, of Albuquerque, Salvatore Riccobene and wife, Debrah of Los Lunas, NM, and Tasha Murphy and husband, Dominic, of Everett, WA; grandchildren Karen Paez, Gabriel Paez and wife, Louise, Katie Penick, Michael Penick, Amanda Alderete and husband, Frank, Andrea Spina and husband, John, Melanie Jarboe and husband, Drew, Dominic Riccobene, Aubrey Grantham and husband, Roger, and Sophia Murphy; great-granddaughter, Amilia Bella Alderete; sister, Leana Gibson and husband, Donald; nephew, Jay Gibson and wife, Aime; great-niece Jaime Gibson, and great-nephew, AJay Gibson. John was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Burwinkle; his father, John Vincent Burwinkle Sr.; and sisters, RoseMarie Burwinkle, and Marianne Burwinkle. John graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1955 and the University of NM in 1965. John was a veteran of the Air National Guard of NM and enjoyed service to his community as a longtime member of the Los Altos Kiwanis Club. As a practicing CPA, he was highly trusted by his many loyal clients for more than four decades. He was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, June 22, 2009, 7:00 p.m., at French - Wyoming Chapel. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 23, 2009, 8:30 a.m., at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 2532 Vermont NE, with Reverend Bennett J. Voorhies, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be Thomas Riccobene, Salvatore Riccobene, David Rennekamp, Jack Penick, James Sanchez, Dominic Murphy, Jay Gibson, George Pino and Joseph Baca. Friends and family may visit French - Wyoming Chapel on Monday, June 22, 2009, 5:00 p.m. until the Rosary. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Odyssey VistaCare Hospice Foundation, 717 N. Harwood St., Suite 1500, Dallas, TX 75201.
