CRAMER -- William (Bill) Eugene Cramer, 83, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 with his family at his side. Bill was born May 24, 1926 the son of Clarence and Florence Viola Morgan Cramer in Dunreith, Indiana. He graduated from high school in Richmond, Indiana joined the Army in 1944, and was stationed in Austria during World War II. After he was discharged, he moved to Los Alamos and worked for AEC, DOE, and LASL as a Communications Engineer. Living in Los Alamos he continued his love of sports, playing hardball, softball, basketball, bowling, and of course, golf. He was one of the natural athletes that only come once out of every 10,000 men. Bill became one of Pierottis Clowns in 1955 catching bullets for Bun Ryan. He was leading hitter for the Clowns with an average of 431. After retiring, he moved to Rio Rancho so he and his wife could play golf all year round. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Florence; two brothers, Glen and Bob; and one sister, Roberta; all of Richmond, Indiana. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joe Wanda Chidester Cramer; son, Douglas and wife Linda of Rio Rancho, NM; daughters, Linda Grande and husband Michael of Fountain Hills, AZ, and Lisa Romero of Los Alamos; grandchildren, Aleeta Spencer and husband Dennis, Eric Jennings and wife Laura, Leon Jennings and wife Christy and Melissa Romero; nine great-grandchildren, Tristan, Akala, Mathew, Eli, Zach, Alyssa, Olivia, Gabriella, and Esteban. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 3:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho with Deacon Jess Chidester officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Montgomery Blvd. NE, Ste. 300, Albuquerque, NM 87111 or a charity of your choice.
