ESTRADA -- Eleanor A. Estrada, 97, a resident of Albuquerque for the last 4 1/2 years, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 2, 2009. She was faithful in prayer and God gave her the sweetest spirit. Eleanor was born in Phoenix, Arizona on February 20, 1912, a week after Arizona became a state. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Bonita Ortiz of Albuquerque; her daughter and son-in-law, Lucille and Victor Sanchez of Tempe, AZ; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, who will greatly miss her loving and kind manner and ready smile. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel; and daughter, Annie. In their youth, she and her brother, George, who passed away last month were both entertainers, he a singer and she a dancer. She will be remembered for her generosity, loyalty, and great sense of humor by the many friends and relatives whose lives she touched in her 97 years of life. Eleanor will forever live in the hearts of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she cherished and loved unconditionally. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Alameda, 8818 N. 2nd St. NW, Albuquerque on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Eleanor's family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Bear Canyon Senior Center, 4645 Pitt St. NE, 87111.
